Orbit

Job discovery that shows its work — every match explains its fit, its gaps, and when its source was checked.

What it is

A web app for US students, interns and new grads looking for tech roles. Orbit pulls listings straight from employer job boards, ranks them against what you said you want, and explains every match — the skills that overlap, the constraints it meets, the gaps it has, and when the source was last checked. It alerts you when new matches appear, and tailors your resume to a job using only facts you have confirmed.

What it does

  • ▸Ingestion from Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby job boards with idempotent upserts and cautious de-duplication; a listing is only closed after two complete scans miss it, and reopens if it reappears.
  • ▸An interpretable recommender — eligibility, retrieval, features, ranking — that shows why each job matches and what is missing. The feed says outright that its ranking is a recommendation score, not an interview probability.
  • ▸Truthful resume tailoring: every rewritten bullet must cite facts you confirmed, numbers must appear in those facts, and phrases copied from the job description are blocked. Unsupported bullets are left out of exports until you confirm them.
  • ▸Exported PDFs and Word files are re-parsed and checked bullet by bullet before the download link is released.
  • ▸Alert digests with a durable background worker: quiet hours in your own time zone, a three-emails-a-day cap, and idempotent delivery so a retry never sends a duplicate.
  • ▸Row-level security on every table, verified by two-account isolation tests, plus unit and Playwright end-to-end suites.
